BuSSy in Damietta

BuSSy organized a two-day workshop with wives & widows of fishermen in Damietta. The workshop was organized in collaboration with Zaitouna Center, and is part of the ongoing project BuSSy Caravan; a traveling workshop that brings together women and men in different cities for storytelling workshops and performances. The workshop highlighted women participants’ experience of losing their husbands, domestic violence and financial pressures.

BuSSy organized a storytelling workshop with group of domestic workers in Helwan, in collaboration with the Egyptian Association for Economic and Social Rights (EAESR). The workshop provided a safe space for the participants to express themselves and share their personal stories about their work and how it impacts their personal lives. The workshop was part of a project in collaboration with Drosos, and incubated by MADEV.

BuSSy started a new storytelling workshop with former prisoners, in collaboration with Children of Female Prisoners Association. The workshop started in September and will end in December. The workshop provides a safe space for the participants to share stories about their experience in prison and how it impacted lives afterwards. The workshop is part of a project in collaboration with Drosos, and incubated by MADEV.

BuSSy organized a storytelling and movement workshop for the second time with teenage girls in collaboration with Banati Foundation. The workshop provided a safe space for the girls to express themselves through movement. The result of the workshop was a performance titled A Dress Story. The workshop was organized in collaboration with Banati foundation and with the support of Drosos Foundation.

BuSSy started hosting closed storytelling sessions for caretakers working in the field of gender related issues. The sessions are meant to offer a safe space for caregivers, social workers and psychologists whose responsibility is to work with/listen to the survivors of gender based violence/gender related experiences, to come together and share their personal stories and experiences.

BuSSy traveled to Mumbai, India to hold a workshop on utilizing storytelling in legal justice activism in Collaboration with SAHR and with support from Frida. The workshop introduced participants to BuSSy’s storytelling and story documentation model and explored how stories can be used impactfully within legal justice activism.
