In 2010 The BuSSy Project decided to take their performances to public spaces outside the premises of the American University in Cairo (AUC).
The project struggled to find a stage for the annual performance due to censorship requests from several venues.
Finally, BuSSy set up a stage next to a cafe near the Cairo Opera House parking lot. It was a 2-night deal, but on the second night, the censorship board, who had already heard about the performance but failed to understand the purpose of the monologues, came to the performance to make sure BuSSy abided by their red tape.
The BuSSy team then made the decision to mouth the stories that were censored without making any actual sound while proceeding with the performance as planned.
Following that performance, actor and activist Khaled Aboul Naga expressed his support for the project and immediately offered to film the censored stories for documentation purposes.
