In 2010, the BuSSy Project decided to take the performances to public spaces outside the premises of the American University in Cairo. The project struggled to find a stage for the annual performance due to the requests of several venues to censor the stories. Finally, BuSSy set up a stage next to a cafe close to the parking lot at the Opera House in Cairo. It was a two night deal, but on our second night, censors, who had already heard about the performance but failed to understand the purpose of the monologues, came to the performance to make sure we abided by their red tape.
The BuSSy team then made the decision to mouth the stories that were censored without making any actual sound while proceeding with the performance as planned. Following that performance, Actor and Activist Khaled Aboul Naga expressed his support for The BuSSy Project and offered right away to film the censored stories for documentation.
