BuSSy in Damietta

In 2017 BuSSy organized a two-month workshop with the wives and widows of fishermen in Damietta. The workshop was held in collaboration with Zaitouna Center. This trip was part of the BuSSy Caravan. The workshop highlighted the participants’ experiences with losing their husbands, domestic violence, and financial pressures.

BuSSy in Helwan

In 2017 BuSSy organized a storytelling workshop with a group of domestic workers in Helwan. It was held in collaboration with the Egyptian Association for Economic and Social Rights (EAESR). The workshop provided a safe space in which participants could express themselves and share their personal stories about their work and how it impacts their lives. The workshop was part of a project in collaboration with Drosos, incubated by MADEV. As a result of the workshop, there was a performance: Dreams and Fears of Ten Women from Helwan.

BuSSy with Former Female Prisoners

BuSSy with Former Female Prisoners

In 2017 BuSSy held a storytelling workshop for former prisoners. It was held in collaboration with the Children of Female Prisoners Association (CFPA). The workshop started in September and ended in December. It provided a safe space for participants in which they could share stories about their experiences in prison and how it impacted their lives afterward. In March 2018, BuSSy created That Place: an audio journey through the stories of 11 women who at one point lived behind prison bars. The workshop was part of a project held in collaboration with Drosos, incubated by MADEV.

BuSSy in Ezbet El-Haggana

In 2017 BuSSy held a storytelling workshop with young men from Ezbet el-Haggana in collaboration with Elshehab Foundation. The workshop provided a safe space for the participants in which they could express themselves and share their personal stories. The workshop was part of a project held in collaboration with Drosos, incubated by MADEV. As a result, the performance Get a Pair was performed.

BuSSy in Banati

In 2017 BuSSy organized a storytelling and movement workshop in collaboration with Banati Foundation for the second time with teenage girls. The workshop provided a safe space for the girls to express themselves through movement. The result of the workshop was a performance titled A Dress Story. The workshop was organized in collaboration with Banati Foundation and was funded by Drosos Foundation.

BuSSy’s Storytelling Session for Caretakers

In 2017 BuSSy started hosting closed storytelling sessions for caretakers working in gender-related fields. The sessions offer a safe space to caregivers, social workers, and psychologists, whose responsibility is to work with and listen to survivors of gender-based violence and gender-related experiences, to come together and share their personal stories and experiences.
