My mother-in-law called my mother to tell her to circumcise my daughter.
My mother called me and asked,
“Aren’t you going to circumcise her? We’re nearing the end of the lunar month.”
I asked in nearby mosques and asked doctors.
“We don’t do circumcisions.
The doctor could be jailed up to seven years.
And the parents could be jailed for three years,”
They said.
I told that to my mother-in-law and she wouldn’t hear of it.
“All our girls must be circumcised.”
I took my daughter the day before yesterday and was away with her for an hour and a half.
They called me and asked,
“Where are you.”
“Circumcising her,” I told them.
Who still gets their daughter circumcised nowadays?
The Grand Mufti himself said it was illegal to do so.
But they believe that girls must be circumcised.
I pretended to do what they wanted.
