I first got my period when I was in the 7th grade.
A few months prior to getting it,
My mother had told me everything about it.
She told me about her own experience,
And told me what to do when I got it.
I was alone the first time I got it,
But I knew what to do.
I told mama what happened when she got back.
She taught me how to get blood stains out of my clothes,
How to cleanse myself afterward,
And how to maintain my personal hygiene when I was on my period.
I'm grateful for my mother.
I had friends who would seek my help during their periods,
Because no one had taught them what to do.
I thank God I was blessed with a mother like mine.
I wish all mothers were like her.
