We Got into the Car and Left

When the prison affairs officials would pass by in the yard, I’d submit my papers and visit my brother.
And I’d ask my brother to visit me in prison.
This was allowed to people with long sentences.

I would submit my papers because my brother got 15 years, and I got 16.
I would run so fast to submit my papers even though it was forbidden to go out into the yard when they were passing.

I visited my brother in Borg el-Arab.
Borg el-Arab is on the Desert Road near Alexandria.
That day was during Ramadan, and as soon as we entered, we heard the call to Maghrib prayer.
They took us back to the car right away.
We asked if we could break our fast with them, but they refused.
We all broke down in tears. We thought we were going to eat with them.
We got into the car and left.
