The Laughing Stock

The Laughing Stock

I don’t think anyone has ever made fun of my body or how I looked,
Except for my family.
Baba and mama didn’t make fun of me,
But they let my uncles to do so.
I was the laughing stock of family gatherings,
Simply because I was a little overweight and had curly hair.

One time, when I was still in middle school,
I went to my room to cry because they’d all been laughing at me again.
My father came after me.
He yelled at me for getting upset.
He said it was just a joke.

I can’t remember the exact moment when my relationship with my body started improving.
When I started seeing myself as beautiful.
But I love myself very much now,
And I’m very proud of myself.
And I love how I look in all my different states.
