I Was Never Invited Back

I remember being 12 or so.
I had been invited over to a friend's house for dinner.
The table was laid and dinner was served.
I started eating and that's when things got tense.

My friend's mother asked me not to eat with my left hand,
Claiming that it was haram.
I never thought it would be unacceptable to be left-handed.

She then called my mother and lectured her,
About allowing me to use my left hand freely,
Claiming that I need to be “fixed”.

To my friend's mother’s surprise,
My mother told her that she was also left handed.
The problem was I was never invited back.
And my friend, till this very moment,
Says that his mother refuses any mention of me or my family.
