Periods and Work

I was the only girl in an office full of men.
Sometimes, I’d have to work for twelve hours straight.
I’d get so exhausted when I got my period that I’d sometimes faint.
It’s not reasonable for me to get exhausted every month,
So I devised a story about how there’s something wrong with my kidneys.
So that there would be a reason as to why I get tired for at least a day and a half every month.
I even learned how to give myself injections so that I wouldn’t make a commotion and everyone would find out.

One day, I told myself, “This is how God made me, and this is what happens to me.”
What’s wrong with me saying that I’m exhausted because I’m on my period?
My manager was used to me being present all the time and bearing the pain, and he had no mercy on me.
But one day, I couldn’t take it anymore.
I told him: “Sir, I have heavy bleeding and won’t be able to work!”
