My sister, who is 3 years younger than me,
Got her period 6 months before I did.
She was 11 years old then,
And I was 14.
My mother and all the women of the family,
Scolded me because I hadn’t gotten it,
And my sister had,
As if I had a say in it.
I then got it and my mother was very happy,
And she got off my back.
My period was then 5 days late,
So she took me to a doctor to get me checked out.
It was a horrible experience.
I hate my period because of these memories.
