Sugar Cane Sticks

I was small in size from childhood up until I went to college.
My brother was a bit like me.
He is a year older than me.
His body started to change around puberty,
But mine didn’t.
My sister is 8 years younger than me.
Both my siblings were chubby,
And I was skinny.

When people would see us together, they’d say,
“Do they eat your food?”
“Do you have no food at home?”
“If we put you all in a mixer,
Your bodies would suit you more.”
“The sugar cane factory needs sugar sticks.”
“Wood board,” etc.

It’s as if I chose to look like this.
As if it were my fault.
They’d say:
“You’re weak.”
“You’re fragile.
You won’t be able to get pregnant and give birth.”
“No one will ever look at you.
There’s nothing to look at.
He won’t find anything to grab.”
As if I were a sex toy.

After marriage,
I went to a doctor to gain weight.
I had an allergy attack,
And lost even more weight.
Who says it’s okay to bully thin people?
