I have an alter ego named Adalaat.
Adaalat only recently started to make an appearance after years of me being poorly treated.
Adaalat gets me riled up every time he and I have a fight.
“He acted all pissy yesterday and you graciously let it go and went to bed. This morning he got mad and you went and asked for forgiveness. At this rate, you’ll be a doormat very soon!”
Adalaat is always ready for a fight! Always!
She sometimes explodes at the tiniest things.
At anything that might indicate that you might treat me poorly. She’s got my back.
“How come you don’t tell me when you’re mad?” he once asked me after a fight.
“Why did you act like nothing was wrong?” he continued, “You even asked me if I was upset!”
I didn’t know what to say.
Adalaat didn’t either.
You see, when Adalaat is absent, my other alter ego, Bakeeza, fills in.
Let me introduce you to Bakeeza:
“Don’t mess things up! You should thank your lucky stars that he puts up with you and hasn’t left you yet!”
“If you go on like this, he’ll leave you and you’ll be all alone again.”
“You had no right to be upset. You’re too sensitive! Get up and make up with him quick before he runs away and leaves you!”
I honestly don’t know who’s going to turn me into a doormat first: him or myself.
